The Ahuizotl is a creature that has it's origins in the Aztec culture of Mexico. It is usually described as a small dog like creature with waterproof black and shiny fur with human hands. The Spanish Conqueror Cortez once reported that one of his men had been killed by a Ahuizotl.
There are many different versions of the legend but almost all of them say it lives in the water and will snatch it's victims from the waters edge.
